Welcome!   July 28th, 2008

The Lazy Admin (or TLA) is an Open Source remote management tool for system administrators. It can be used to gather live data about machines on your network for which you have administrator access to.

TLA also offers Active Directory tools, such as searching computers bound by name, searching for users by last name or logon ID field.

Please send me some feedback/feature requests/complaints, or just let me know if TLA is working for you! You may contact me from the help->about menu, or in the SF forums.

TLA V.8 RELEASED!   October 3rd, 2008

TLA v.8 has been released. Features galore! The installed software list has been cleaned up and now has the ability to uninstall apps (thanks Mike!). I’ve make big changes to the LDAP search. When you search for either a user or employee your results come back in a list view. Double clicking on that gives more information, including room number (cheers Greg:). Same with computer name searching. Searching for hostname* will return all the results in a list view, double clicking on a result will do a live connection to the computer. Many new things have been added, too many to list:) Go download it, give feedback cheers!

Welcome new developer!   September 30th, 2008

TLA .8 on the way…   September 29th, 2008

TLA .8 is coming….I promise. Our good friend from across the pond, MikeB has once again contributed some code. I’m almost done but have some more testing to do. Major overhaul of the search AD functions. Hopefully you’ll like it. Stay tuned…

New website!   July 28th, 2008

As you can see I’ve re-created the website. I’ve migrated from drupal to wordpress (pita!). While I love drupal, and even use it on my personal site, I think it’s a bit overkill for this blog/site. Hope you all like the new site!

The Lazy Admin v.7 has been released! This version isn’t a huge release but I still feel it warranted a whole .version number, simply because it has another long requested feature: the ability to start a remote process!

(Sorry, I don’t have a vista or XP theme:)
Please see the changelog for more information. Again, thanks to Mike B for all his help!

New version coming soon!   July 16th, 2008

The project is not dead, promise:) A new version is coming soon. Things have been busy lately, sorry for the long delay & no updates. My friend from across the pond has sent me some more updates, I will incorporate those as well as add my own updates.
Stay tuned!

TLA v.6.1 Released!   April 6th, 2008

TLA v.6.1 has been released. This “spring cleaning” version of TLA just does a little house keeping/more bug fixes.
Most noticeably is the new icons (see previous post) and some menu changes. I made a menu for batch queries (in hopes to expand those features) and grayed out some features that weren’t available depending on if the host name is resolved or not. See the changelog.txt for the full feature set. Stay tuned for TLA .7, and keep those suggestions coming:)

New Icons   April 2nd, 2008

New icons coming to TLA. Special thanks to the Tango Desktop project people. Now all I need is a nice application icon (hint hint).

User logged in reporting error   March 1st, 2008

There is an error in the latest version (and probably all versions of TLA) in the logged-in user component.
TLA reports that the user running TLA is the person logged in on the remote computer. This is known to at least affect Vista, and possibly XP.
I believe it’s due to the fast-user switching. I’ll have to research it.
In short, don’t be alarmed if you see your name show up as logged in to the remote computer:)
